Melanin is a skin pigment. It occurs in both humans and animals, and is what makes hair, skin, and eyes appear darker. The more Melanin in the body has the darker the pigment and therefore the darker the colour of your skin.

Melanotan works by stimulating the body’s naturally occurring alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (a-MSH), causing Melanogenesis, a process where melanocytes (tanning cells in the skin) produce melanin (pigment).
